about
All My Trials is an old folk song based on a Bahamian lullaby, made popular in the 60s by the many folk singers who performed it. I used to listen to Joan Baez sing it when I was really young (like 5 or 6) and now that I'm older the song means more to me than ever.
lyrics
Hush little baby don't you cry
'Cause you know your mama was born to die
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
The river of Jordan is mighty and cold
Well it chills the body, but not the soul
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
I've got a little book was given to me
And every word spells liberty
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
Too late, my brothers!
Too late -- but nevermind
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
If living were a thing what money could buy
You know the rich would live and the poor would die
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
There grows a tree in paradise
And the pilgrims call it the tree of life
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
Too late, my brothers!
Too late -- but nevermind
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
All my trials, Lord, soon be over
